According to Building Energy Data 2007, the population in the U.S.A
is about 4.6% of the world population. However, 100.7 quadrillion
Btu of energy are consumed which contribute about 22.5 % of total
energy consumption.
80% of the total energy consumption is consumed by buildings in
which residential and commercial buildings contribute over 70% of
building consumption. In particular, 72% of the consumed energy
is electricity.
